Your Junior Year in College is the Right Time for Choosing a Career Path

August 13, 2015 Written by fds

A significant number of parents of college age students have hired me to guide their sons and daughters to identify appropriate careers and execute successful job search campaigns. In my experience, the best time for me to begin work with college students is their junior year. Let’s look at the junior year and the opportunities it holds.

Entering their junior year, many students either have not declared a major or have chosen one without much thought. They have no idea of what career path they want for themselves. A career coach can play a key role in helping them make that decision, based upon their interests, skill sets, and the industry niche for which they have the greatest affinity. There is still time to change a major if it’s not the right fit.

Once that decision has been made, their senior year should be spent on completing their major and minor classwork and conducting their job search campaign.

If you are the parent of a college junior, contact me and we can talk about how I can help your child. If you are a junior, let’s get together for a free, no obligation session where I can learn more about your specific situation and share how I could help you land the right job with the right organization after you graduate. I offer phone, Skype or in-person coaching. Just click on the contact tab and let’s get started!
